Privacy Policy
Back to Bench
Last updated: October 24, 2026
Back to Bench is designed to keep your hands-on project notes in the app on your iPhone. This policy describes version 1.0.
Information in the app
You may enter project names, categories, pause notes, next steps, snags, tool or material locations, estimated session times, reminder times, and optional photos. The app stores this information in its local app data so it can show it to you later. Back to Bench does not provide an account, cloud sync, or a developer-operated cloud service.
Collection and sharing
Back to Bench does not send project notes, photos, or reminder details to the developer. The app includes no advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
You can choose to export a JSON copy or import one. Those are actions you initiate using the iOS file and sharing interfaces. The destination you select may store, sync, or share that file under its own terms and privacy practices. Export is a user-controlled copy, not automatic backup or sync.
iOS device backup and storage behavior is controlled in part by your device and Apple account settings. Back to Bench does not operate those services.
Notifications and photos
If you enable a reminder, the app schedules an on-device notification. You can manage notification permission in iOS Settings. If you choose a photo with the system photo picker, a resized copy is stored with the related project. The app does not request access to your entire photo library. Reminder notifications may display the project name and next step on your Lock Screen, depending on your settings.
Support
If you choose to contact support through GitHub Issues, information you submit there is handled by GitHub under GitHub's own terms and privacy policy. Issues may be publicly visible. Do not include sensitive personal information, private project details, or credentials.
Deleting your information
You can delete individual projects in the app, including their notes and stored photo. Deleting the app removes its local app data. Copies you exported, device backups, and information posted to GitHub must be managed separately in those destinations.
Changes
If the app's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy information should be updated before or when the change is released.
